Acrylic Denture

Tissue Supported Acrylic Denture is also commonly known as Gum Stripper. Tissue Supported Removable Partial Denture has been prescribed widely mainly because it is a Low Cost Prosthesis and easy to repair. When this type of denture is not maintained regularly, a problem arises. The Denture sinks into tissues as the underlying alveolar bone resorbs. This in turn strips the gingival tissues, leading to exposure of the underlying root surfaces. Tissue supported prosthesis especially in the lower jaw hastens the process of tooth loss.

The etiology, or cause, of plaque-induced gingivitis is bacterial plaque, which acts to initiate the body’s host response. This, in turn, can lead to destruction of the gingival tissues, which may progress to destruction of the periodontal attachment apparatus.”:.^
